"Oh say does that Star Spangled Banner still
wave, 'ore the land of the free and the home of the brave". It did. New Yorkers and DC'ers had made it through that
day. The fireman, police, EMS, and the Mayor made us very proud
to be New Yorkers, and Americans! Accountants and stockbrokers,
secretaries and janitors rose to the challenge and did things they
never thought they could do. Soon, the
stories of the real heroes and martyrs of that fateful day were
told.
"Let's roll" In a field not far from Gettysburg,
defending the Capitol once again, another group of Americans shed their
blood to save others. In New York and DC brave citizens saw the
fire, smelled the stench of death, but went back into the burning
buildings anyway.
